Voter should ensure their name in voters’ list, says DC

Mangalore, Apr 30,2913:  Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada District Harsha Gupta has kept no space for duplication or malpracticing during votes. He said that the voters whose names are included in the voters’ list would be allowed to cast their votes on May 5 elections.

Mr Gupta Communicated with the officers of the district deputed on election duty simultaneously from his office through a wireless network system said that even those who posses Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) without including their name in the voter list would not have the Right to vote.

 

DC also added that voters having their name enlisted in the voters’ list should produce any one of the 23 necessary identification documents before the officers present at the booths and then voters should be allowed to vote.

“The People who are assigned for election duty should be bold and courageous and be inspirer to others.” The DC mentioned that a helpline has been opened to the officers during election. They can call 1077 to state their complaints anytime on violation of Election Code.

He said that “Since we have assigned tight security personnel and para-military forces have been deputed, we hope that no violation will occur”.

Block officers were informed to see the arrangements including drinking water and seating for the election duty officers and if they require food, they will have to inform the Revenue Officers of the booth area in advance. The amount will be later deducted from the election duty pay of the said official.

He directed the officials deputed on duty to report at 6.30 am on May 4th for the pre work. MCC Commissioner Dr Harish was present.
