Vittala is innocent: G K Govinda Rao

Mangalore, May 14: Progressive thinkers convinced that Vittala is innocent. Prof. G. K. Govinda Rao, the actor and thinker, recently visited Vittala in Mangalore jail. The Anti Naxal Force (ANF) had arrested Vittala, a student of mass communication and journalism at Mangalore University, for alleged association with Naxals.

 

 

 

Interacting with reporters after visiting Vittala and his father Linganna in jail, Prof. Rao said that he feels that the father-son pair is innocent.

Stating that the police department has treated Vittala very badly, Prof. Rao said that young people will really take to terrorism if society treats them in such a way. He also clarified that he does not support Naxalism.

Meanwhile, a group of progressive thinkers have formed a committee to fight for the rights of Vittala and his father. Prof. Rao said that the committee will organize a protest in Bangalore on May 28.

Mavali Shankar, the state chief convener of the DSS, said that the Malekudiya tribe remains aloof from the mainstream and does not have access to education. He voiced his opinion that, although one boy from the community tried to get an education, the ANF has put him behind bars.
