Village girl’s remedy for skin ailments all set for international recognition

Puttur, Feb 5, 2013:  A farmer’s daughter hailing from a village in Puttur has made the district proud through her unique medicinal research that has earned her the honour of representing India  at the  International Sustainable World Energy Engineering Advancement Project Olympiad to be held in the US on May 8.

The  girl, Rashmi Parvati (17), daughter of Ravishanker from Nekkila and  a second PUC student  of Vivekananda PU College, has won the rare honour for preparing a unique salt from the extracts of coconut petiole ash,  which has proved to be a good medicine for several skin ailments.

 

Rashmi, a meritorious student  is  also  a second rank holder in SSLC exam and has won national recognition for preparing anti-dandruff shampoo using medicinal  herbs. Also a recipient of several state and national level awards, Rashmi has also presented five scientific projects in the IREES contests in the past three years.

Rashmi prepared the remedy for skin diseases under the guidance of  Shankar Bhat Badanaje, a known name in the field of agricultural research. Her project competed with other entries at the national level, before being chosen for the international honour.Rashmi was one among the four students chosen from all over India and the only student from Karnataka to participate in the  contest.

Rashmi who dreams of becoming a scientist also loves classical music and has passed junior level exams with distinction.
