Mangalore, Oct 9, 2013: DYFI jointly with Student Federation of India (SFI), Janathavadi Mahila Sangatane (JMS), Mahila Daurjanya Virodi Vedhike and others staged a protest, in front of the DC office on October 9, Wednesday demanding CBI probe into Sowjanya rape and murder case.
Addressing the protesters, T N Seema, president of Kerala State Akhila Bharatha Janathavadi Mahila Sangatane said that the police department has failed to trace the real culprit of the Sowjanya murder case from past one year.
She also said that the country which is talking about the women’s safety is not even bothered to give justice after her death. The police department and the political parties are showing special interest in protecting the criminals and trying to destroy the evidence.
She said that in spite of giving a clue by Sowjanya’s father of involvement of three people in murder, the police have just targeted mentally challenged person named Santhosh Rao and arrested him. The police who are under pressure are trying to close the case and not ready to hand over this case to the CBI. She also urged the concerned authorities and police department to hand over the case to CBI and provide justice for Sowjanya’s family.
Prior to the protest, a vehicle rally was started in Belthangady and concluded in front of DC office, Mangalore.
JMS president Hemalatha, JMS secretary Kiranaprabha, DYFI President Muneer Katipalla, Secretary Dayanand, SFI State vice president Renuka Kahar and others were present.
