Valuables worth over Rs. 15 lakhs stolen from house in Moodubelle

Udupi, Oct 18, 2012: Thieves broke into a house in Thirlapake in Moodubelle on the night of Oct 17, Wednesday and stole valuables worth more than Rs. 15 lakhs.

Judith Lobo, the owner of the house, had gone to her mothers’ house in Udupi on Oct 15, Monday. When she returned on the morning of Oct 18, she saw that her house had been broken into.

 

 

 

The thieves had gotten into the house by breaking open the main door, ransacked the cupboards, and stolen 320gms gold worth more than Rs. 15 lakh. They left behind the artificial jewelry.

The crime branch police of Shirva rushed to the spot with a dog squad and fingerprint experts.

The police say that people are not taking care of their valuables in a proper manner in spite of their repeated warnings. They say that they have educated the public about the dangers of exhibiting and storing large quantities of gold in their houses, but in spite of the increase in cases of burglaries and chain snatching, the people are not taking this issue seriously, they said.
