VHP to oppose proposed anti communal violence bill – Ashok Singhal

Dharmasthala, Feb 7, 2012: Ashok Singhal, the leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), told reporters in Dharmasthala on Feb 6 Monday that the VHP’s advisory board is planning strategies to fight against the proposed Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence (Access to Justice and Reparations) Bill of 2012, which he opined was detrimental to Hindu society.

Ashok SinghalFurther, Singhal said that a meeting of swamijis and religious leaders was held at New Delhi in Nov 2011 to oppose this bill.

Declaring that the Hindu society is being targeted by various forces in various parts of the country, he said that the government now wants to introduce a bill that can harm Hindus. He said that Hindu leaders will do everything in their power to stop this bill from becoming law.

Regarding the construction of a temple for Lord Rama in Ayodhya, he said that a temple must  be constructed there. Stating that no MP is opposing this proposal, he urged the parliament to support the proposal to make it a reality.

Expressing his appreciation of Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, the Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, he said that, while not actively involving in any movement or agitation, Dr. Heggade has brought about social revolution.

Singhal, who stayed at Sannidhi Guest House in Dharmasthala, discussed various issues with Dr. Veerendra Heggade at night.

Security has been beefed up at Shri Dharmasthala Temple because of Singhal’s visit. D. Surendra Kumar, VHP DK District President M. B. Puranik, D. Harshendra Kumar, Bajrang Dal State Convener Sooryanarayana, Mangalore Division Convener Sharan Pumpwell, and many others were also present.

Singhal plans to meet the Pejawar Swamiji on Tuesday, after which he will return.
