VHP and Bajrang Dal demand shut down of illegal abattoirs

Mangalore, Sep 5, 2012: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bajrang Dal have demanded that certain illegal abattoirs across the district must be shut down immediately. 

Addressing reporters at a press conference held at Press Club today, Goraksha Pramukh Dinesh Pai said that the abattoir in Kudroli is illegal and must, therefore, be shut down immediately. He alleged that the abattoir in Kudroli is slaughtering cows in violation of the Preservation of Cow Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act of 1964 and that it is also violating the norms of the Pollution Control Board.

He said that the abattoir is being allowed to run although the commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) admits that it is illegal. Alleging that several slaughter houses, which slaughter goats, also violate the norms of the Pollution Control Board, owing to which they must be shut down. 

Complaining that cows are being illegally transported and slaughtered all over the district, he said that the VHP and the Bajrang Dal will organize an intense protest if crimes against cows do not cease before Nov 15.
