Mangalore, Aug 26, 2013: The members VHP and Bhajarangadal staged a peaceful protest at the Gandhi Park opposite Town Hall on August 26, Monday, as a part of the nation-wide protest against the arrest of VHP leaders Ashok Singhal and Praveen Bhai Togadia in Ayodhya.

Addressing the protestors, VHP President M B Puranik said that a devotional trip to Ayodhya called as ’Parikrama Yatre’ has been carried out every year by members of Bhajarangdal, VHP and other devotees of Lord Ram in various batches under the guidance of religious leaders and saints. The main purpose of the yatra is to construct the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, he said.

He alleged that the Uttar Pradesh and the Central Governments have been hindering the construction of the Mandir, just  to appease the minorities,  despite a  Allahabad High Court ruling permitting the construction. He said the arrest of leaders like Ashok Singhal and Praveen Togadia along with religious leaders and sanths is condemnable.

The activists staged two-hour long protest with prayers, slogans and bhajans for the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.

Manohar Thulajaram, Gopal Kuthar, Jagadeesh Shenava, Sharan Pumpwell, Krishna Murthy, Jithendra Kottary, Punith and Pradeep Pumpwell and others were present.
