Use of polyester flags an insult to freedom struggle, says Khader

Mangaluru, Aug 09, 2022: MLA U T Khader has said that the Union Government move of amending the national Flag Act to allow use of flags not only of Khadi but also polyester fabric, was an insult to the freedom struggle.

 

 

 

Speaking to reporters here on August 8, Tuesday, Khader said the national Flag is not just a piece of cloth, but the mother root of this nation. It is not proper to stock polyester clothes from abroad for the purpose, he added.

Khadi is a symbol of the sacrifice of the freedom fighters of this land. But the Union Government which chants the Swadeshi Mantra on the other hand was encouraging Videshi or foreign products. The permission to import polyester from abroad has only helped China, he alleged.

Pointing out that many flags supplied under Har Ghar Tiranga campaign were defective, he said the government needs to come up with a clear-cut policy and that the scheme has to be efficiently implemented instead of mere sloganeering and publicity.
