Udupi: Youth Killed, six injured in a car collision in Kaup

Udupi,April30, 2013: Midnight collision of  cars took away life of a youth named as Shamit  Shetty(27),son of Jayaram Shetty and Kushala Shetty from Mala village in Karkala taluk.

 

The accident occurred between an innova car and a Maruti Alto car on Monday April29 at Muloor on national highway 66 near Kaup. Alto was on its way to Kaup from Inna and Innova was moving towards Mulky from Brahmavar where both collided head-on. Shamit was returning to Kaup with his relatives after attending a religious program at Inna. The Innova driver lost  control on his vehicle caused the tragedy.

Harish Shetty (32), his wife, Pratibha Shetty (28), child, Prapti (1), and relatives, Preetesh (15) and Nidhi (5), were travelling in Alto suffered injuries. Antony, who was driving Innova car, also was injured. All of them were admitted into a private hospital in Udupi.

Lalaji R Mendon,a JD(S) candidate from Kaup consistuency was returning by that way after campaigning,saw the injured persons in need of aid and took them on his own car to Udupi.He ensured that all got proper medical attention immediately.

There were issues that the policemen neither received the calls nor came to the spot. But the police source said that their lines were stricken by lightning on that day.
