Udupi: Pune-Ernakulam Express gets rousing reception at Udupi railway station

Udupi,Jan 18, 2013  Jan18,2013 : The Pune-Panvel-Ernakulam Express got a rousing reception at the Udupi Railway Station on January 17, Thursday, when the train was given a halt at the station for the very first time, thereby fulfilling a longstanding demand of the people of the region.

 

 

 

 

 

Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, RL Dayas, President of the Railway Yatri Sangha which had played an instrumental role in prevailing upon the authorities to fulfill the demand, and several others were present at the station and distributed sweets to the passengers of the train.

The Railway Yatri Sangha had earlier even planned a Rail Roko Agitation on January 22 in support of the demand. RL Dayas has said the railway department’s decision to give a stop for the train in Udupi has immensely pleased the Sangha as well as the public.

Meanwhile,, Udupi MLA Raghupathi  Bhat  pledged his complete support to the movement of the Railway Yatri Sangha and also appealed for a stoop for the Dehradun train  in Udupi.

K Damodar Aithal, Indrali Jayakar Shetty,  office bearers of the Sangha and several others were present.
