Udupi: Over 500 conduct procession for govt. housing plots

Udupi, 10 August 2011: Over 500 people who do not have their own house or housing plots conducted procession from Service Bus stand through K.M Marg to Taluk Office on Tuesday demanding for government housing plots. Karnataka Agricultural Labourer’s Union Udupi Taluk Samithi submitted petition to the State Chief Minister through Udupi Tashildar to identify those who do not have their own house or plot and issue them the housing plot.

 

 

 

 

 

Speaking on this occasion Union’s State President Nithyananda Swamy said that, there are thousands of people in difficulties. They do not have the basic facility so they have to pay 2 – 3 thousands and live in rented houses. With the rising market prices, maintaining a living has been very difficult for them. So it is impossible for them to buy a housing plot and build a house. Government is often stating about issuing the housing plots, but it has still remained a assurance only, he said.
 

Union’s Udupi Taluk Samithi Coordinator Dogu Suvarna spoke and said that, Udupi Taluk Samithi of Karnataka Agricultural Labourer’s Union which is united with the All India Agricultural Labourer’s Union has already conducted the process to identify those who do not have their own house or housing plot and to submit application to the government.

 
Later total 3342 applications of those who do not have their own house or housing plots from 53 Grama were submitted to the government through Tashildar. The procession was led by the office bearers of the Union; K. Shankar, Ramesh Mendon, Lakshmana, Damodar, Shekara, Vasanthi, Pushpa and others.
