Udupi JD (S) president’s statement has hurt minorities – Aslam

Mangalore, Mar 24, 2012: D. M. Aslam, the president of the DK district unit of the JD (S), said that a recent statement by the president of the Udupi unit of the JD (S) has hurt the feelings of the minority communities in the district. He was addressing reporters at a press meet held at Hotel Woodlands on March 24 Saturday. 

Further explaining the issue, he said that Deviprasad Shetty, the president of the Udupi JD (S), had stated that the minority communities have cheated the JD (S) by not casting their votes in favor of the party’s candidate.

Mr. Aslam said that the JD (S) was started from scratch, in spite of which it has secured 70,000 votes, which is a great achievement for the party. He voiced his opinion that this proves that the JD (S) has a good future in the coastal regions. 

Speaking on the occasion, Azeez Kudroli said that party workers must work hard to strengthen the party. He urged Mr. Deviprasad Shetty to understand that people from minority communities are present not only in the JD (S), but also in other parties. Many of them had voted for the Congress to teach the BJP a lesson and that the BJP has been defeated because of the JD (S), he said.  

Sushil Noronha, Abubakker, Iqbal Ahmed, Muneer, and other JD (S) members were also present.
