Udupi: Four fishermen rescued after boat capsizes off Thottam Beach

Udupi, Aug 29, 2025: Four fishermen had a narrow escape after their boat capsized in rough seas off Thottam beach in Malpe on Thursday, August 29.
On noticing the incident, Thottam ward municipal member Yogesh immediately informed professional social worker Ishwar Malpe. Ishwar, along with locals Praveen and Uday, rushed to the spot with life jackets and managed to rescue all four fishermen safely.
Following the rescue, Ishwar Malpe warned that the sea at Malpe is highly unpredictable and dangerous. “No one should venture into the waters even if they are good swimmers. Waves can rise suddenly without warning. Fishermen must always wear life jackets while going out to sea,” he cautioned.
