Udupi Bishop inaugurates new building of St John’s PU College, Shankerpura

Udupi, Jan 13, 2013: The new building of the St John’s Composite PU College  at Shankerpura was inaugurated by Udupi Bishop Dr Gerald Isac Lobo. The inauguration of the building  has fulfilled a longstanding demand of the people of the region,

MP of Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency Jayaprakash Hegde, Fr Stany Tauro, Dean of Shirva Varado, Vasanth V Salian, former minister,Vinay Ballal, President of Katapadi gram panchayat, Albert W D’Souza, educationist and businessman, Dr Edward Lobo, Vice President of the parish Pastoral Council, Fr Leslie D’Souza, Vicar of Pangala Church and correspondent of St John’s Educational Institutions were present on the occasion. Prominent donors were felicitated by the Bishop.   

The College though was founded six years ago, was functioning in vacant rooms of the school, for want  of a new building. The contributions of people from Shankerpura and abroad helped realize the dream of having a new building. The foundation for the building was laid on September 8,2011.
