Mangalore, Oct 31, 2012 : UXCEL – Trinity Mangalore will stage a charity show Ramayana in English in the auditorium of St. Agnes College Bendore on Nov 3, Saturday.
Prof. Maria Phyllis D’Costa, director of this show, told reporters at a press meet held in Press Club today that more than 100 artists will be taking part in this show. The proceeds will be spent on socially deprived, sick, and destitute children.
Speaking about her experiences directing the show, she said that reading, researching, recreating, and staging the Ramayan in English poetic drama form has been daunting as well as exhilarating because of its themes, characters, and stories. The show has brought together over 100 amateur actors and dancers of all ages and walks of life.
The show retains the epic flavor by blending in elements of dance, drama, yakshagana, and classical music.
Entry fees range from Rs. 200 to Rs. 500 and tickets are available in School Book Company on Carstreet and at Dinoo’s in Falnir.
The profits will be donated to White Doves, Prashanth Nilaya, and Cards Samvedana.
Among those present were coordinator Savitha Salian, RJ Vishwas Kamath of Big FM, and event manager Hisrar Tallani.
