UPPA Puraskar conferred on senior photojournalist Nagaraj Varamballi

Udupi, Aug 20, 2012 : Udupi District-in-charge Minister Kota Shrinivas Poojary inaugurated the World Photography Day celebrations held by Udupi Pioneers Photographers’ Association (UPPA) at Ravindra Mantapa, MGM on August 19, Sunday. The UPPA Puraskar was conferred on Nagaraj Varamballi, senior photojournalist, on this occasion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

MLA Raghupathi Bhat took a photograph of Sanjana, lead actress of Mahanadi, to inaugurate the event.

Predicting that a State Photographer’s Academy will soon be formed, Mr. Poojary advised photographers to pressurize the government for the same.

U. R. Sabhapathi, former MLA, also spoke on this occasion. Expressing the need for a state-level academy and a gallery to exhibit photographs, he highlighted the importance of photography as an excellent memory aid. Stating that photographs give life to news reports, he said that taking photographs requires a creative mind.

Thuluva, a journal from Udupi Publications, was released on this occasion.

Pramod Madhwaraj, president of Udupi Block Congress; Udayakumar Shetty, BJP president; Dr. M. B. Boralingaiah, police in-charge; and many others were also present.

Bengaluru Arun Mahendrakar, UPPA President Astro Mohan, and Shivakumar of Salem also spoke on photographic skills.
