Mangalore, July 25, 2013: Tulunada Rakshana Vedike in association with Sanathana Seva Trust, Kadala Sene and SC/ST Committee staged a protest in front of the DC office on July 25 opposing delay in issuing of the Aadhaar Cards.
Addressing the protestors, social activist MG Hegde said that even though it is welcome to note that the government has started to issue the unique number, the harassment people have to undergo in the process while registering and issuing of the card, is condemnable.
He also said that the Government must also constitute an independent department which may be called as ‘Card Issuing Authority of India’ having branches in all states and Union territories to issue various cards like Voters ID card, ration card, Pan card, NPR and other cards must be simplified and issued by the local authorities.
He also said that the government must adopt the "Single Window System" which issues all kinds of cards under one roof. Hegde said that if the same system of issuing the card continues, then it will create card mafia and people will have to suffer.
Yogish Shetty Jeppu, President of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike, Nithish C V, President of Sanathana Seva Trust, Boloor Yashwanth Mendon, President of Kadala Sene and Praveen Veeranagar of SC/ST Committee were present.
