Tributes offered to late Wilfy Rebimbus at 2nd death anniversary

wilfy12jan29 disMangalore, Mar 10, 2012: An event was held in memory of late Mr. Wilfy Rebimbus, also known as Konkan Koghul for his musical contributions, on March 9 Friday at Jeppu, the place where the singer and lyricist lived all his life. 


Family and friends of late Mr. Rebimbus offered a memorial mass at Jeppu Church at 7:30 a.m. with Fr. Nelson Almeida, the parish priest of Jeppu; Fr. Joseph Martis, the rector of Jeppu Seminary; Fr. Walter D’Mello, the parish priest of Milagres Church, as the main celebrants. 


The mass was followed by a formal ceremony in the hall of Jeppu Church. While Leslie Rego offered tributes, Fr. Pius D’Souza of Infant Jesus Shrine in Bikarnakatte. 


Known as the Father of Konkani Music, Wilfy Rebimbus died on March 9, 2010. His family comprising his wife Meena and his children Vishwas and Veena are continuing his work. Although Wilfy couldn’t realize his dream of completing 250 musical shows when he was alive, his troupe of musicians continued presenting Wilfy Nites in places such as Doha, Mumbai, and Mangalore. The 250th dream show was performed on Dec 23, 2012 in Mangalore. 


Wilfy Rebimbus’s son Vishwas and daughter Veena also write lyrics and compose music like their father and they have presented their songs at Wilfy Nites. 


A Wilfy Nite will be held in Dubai by SMKC at Al Nasr Liesureland on April 27, 2012.
