Mangalore, April 27, 2012 :Thanks to the continuous rainfall in the area during the past few days, the level of water in Thumbe vented dam has gone up.
The height of the dam is 13ft, and the level of water in it was 11.4ft on Wednesday at 6:00 a.m. Thanks to steady rainfall, the level of water began to rise and the dam started overflowing at midnight.
Speaking about the dam, K. S. Linge Gowda, the assistant executive engineer (water supply) at Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), said that the dam was full and overflowing on Thursday and the civic body is now supplying water as usual to all areas. Supply of water through tankers has stopped, he added.
