Karkala, Sep 20, 2013 : Close on the heels of a recent robbery at a jewellery shop in the town, thieves targeted another jewellery, this time Santosh Jewellery near Sheetal bar on the night of September 18, Wednesday. Thieves have decamped with gold and silver valuables worth Rs 17.75 lakh from the jewellery house.
According to sources, the thieves gained entry into the Santosh Jewellery by breaking the locks of an adjacent iron workshop. From there they drilled a hole in the wall and entered the jewellery shop.
They used a gas cutter to break open the locks and stole around 600 grams of gold and 1.5 kg of silver ornaments. The clever thieves also took along with them the DVR Box of the CC Camera so that the police are left with no clue.
Karkala police visited the burgled jewellery shop along with finger print experts. The police found a gas cutter left behind by the thieves.
It is worth mentioning here that in an earlier theft case of jewellery house in the town, the police were successful in arresting one thief and recovering the stolen valuables the same night.
Investigations are underway.
