Bantwal, July 8, 2013 : The rise in burglary cases is giving sleepless nights to the residents of Vittal. On July 7, Sunday night  there was a vain attempt to burgle a house. Though the suspected thief was trapped by locals, he cleverly managed to escape in a true cinematic style.

That the thieves gained entry into the house of one Hameed Saheb at Kambalabettu came to light when the family members who were away to Kerala, returned on Sunday night. They found the front door broken and the rear door open and all things scattered in the house.

They even heard someone rushing outside from the rear and raised an alarm. A few neighbours who rushed to the spot  managed to trap the suspect, but he soon gave them a slip. However, the locals could lay hands on a bag left behind by the thieves. It had some instruments used to break open doors and also some imitation jewellery.

Sources said a  Swift car of Kerala Registration which was seen in front of the house  had vanished from the scene   very soon and suspect the thieves to be from Kerala.

Meanwhile, some thieves who broke into a grocery shop  of Sulaiman  near Kundadka Temple have decamped with a cash of Rs 25000 on Sunday night.
