Mangalore , Aug 8, 2011 : A house in Konaje was broken into in the morning of Aug 7 Sunday, and the thieves made away with gold ornaments worth Rs. 3 lakh. Although 5 people live in that house, only two people—the aged mother of Denis Alphonse, the owner of the house, and his 10 year old son—were at home when the thieves broke in.
Denver, the 10-year-old who was alone at home with his grandmother, was watching TV and eating his breakfast, when two strangers arrived at home and inquired about Everest, brother of Denis, who also lives in the same house. When the boy told that that Everest lives in the house, the strangers waited outside.
When the boy went inside to put his plate away, the strangers entered the house and started searching through the almirah. When the boy tried to raise an alarm, they tied him up and gagged him. When Roslyn heard the noise, she came outside; but by then, the thieves had already escaped with everything they could get their hands on.
The case is currently being investigated by the Konaje police.
