Thieves burgle house at Nekkilady; rob cash of Rs 68000

 Puttur, Sep 19, 2013 : Thieves who  broke into a house at Nekkilady in Uppinangady on September 17, Tuesday night have  stolen a cash of Rs 68,000. A vain attempt was also made, possibly by the same gang to burgle even a neighbouring house.

 The theft occurred in the house of Ibrahim of Kodippadi. The thieves who entered the house by breaking open the back door,  later  broke open two almirahs and  robbed a cash of Rs 68,000.

The thieves even tried to break the back door of the house of Abdul Khader near Santhekatte but had to flee when family members woke up on hearing the sound. It is learnt the family used to place vessels  close by the back door after locking it up at night. As the thieves tried to break the door, the vessels rolled down and alerted the family members.

The rise in theft cases in the  area has given sleepless nights t o residents.
