Team Mangalore wows viewers at Shri Lanka International Kite Festival

Mangalore, Sep 23, 2011 : Team Mangalore, a Mangalore-based group of kite enthusiasts, have attracted a great deal of attention at the Shri Lanka International Kite Festival 2011.

The team comprising Dinesh Holla, Sarvesh Rao, Shashank Shetty, and Sathish Rao won the admiration of onlookers when they skillfully managed their unique collection of giant kites.

 

Kite flying teams from all over the globe participated in this event, and Team Mangalore illustrated the rich cultural diversity of India through its kites.

Team Mangalore decorated the skies of Shri Lanka with kites based on the themes of Bharatanatyam, Yakshagana, Kathakkali, Bhoothakola, Pushpaka Vimana, and others at Negombo Beach in southeast Shri Lanka, the venue of the kite festival, which was held as part of the Nilahare Wasanthaya 2011 celebrations.

Team Mangalore has even been invited to participate in the Cervia International Kite Festival, scheduled to be held in Italy. In the meanwhile, the team is busy making preparations for its own International Kite Festival, which is scheduled to be held on Jan 21 – 22 at Panambur Beach.
