Mangalore, Apr 8, 2012:  Team Mangalore, a group of kite fliers in Mangalore, have been officially invited to participate in the Art Evento International Kite Festival, which is being held at Cervia in Italy from April 21 to May 2, among the most prestigious kite festivals in the world organized by renowned Italian artist Claudio Capelli. The world’s best kites will be flown at this festival by international kite fliers. 


Team Mangalore comprises Sarvesh Rao, Dinesh Holla, Nithin Shetty, and Prashanth Upadhyaya. Dinesh Holla will draw sketches and paintings on the spot for the Italian audience and Prashanth Upadhyaya will present live Yakshagana shows as part of the cultural program. Teams from 38 countries worldwide will participate in this event.

Team Mangalore has also been invited to participate in the Uiseong International Kite Festival, scheduled to be held on April 11 – 17 at Uiseong in South Korea, organized by Kitai Rhee, the president of Korean Kite Fliers Association. A four-member team comprising Giridhar Kamath, Vasanth Kumar Sanil, Subhash Pai, and Janardhan Rao will participate in this event and 21 countries from all over the globe will participate. Team Mangalore is participating in this event for the second time. 


The event will also include a workshop where people can learn how to make and fly kites. Team Mangalore will also present Yakshagana prasangas on the venue. 


Team Mangalore has participated in a number of international kite flying events in France, UK, Canada, Shri Lanka, Thailand, Qatar, Dubai, South Korea, and others. 


The team usually presents popular kites such as Kathakkali, the largest kite in India, and other kites such as Durga, Owl, Charlie Chaplin, Gajaraja, Bird, Bat Series, Pushpakavimana, Avatar Bird, and others.
