Mangalore, July 10, 2012: Addressing the gathering at a felicitation program organized on July 9, Monday by the Akhila Bharathiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in honor of students who scored well in the recently held SSLC and PUC exams in Mangalore, Dr. P. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya, registrar (evaluation) of Mangalore University, said that teachers must consider themselves responsible for students committing suicide after declaration of exam results.
Speaking of how painful it is to read reports of students committing suicide after declaration of SSLC and PUC results, Mr. Yadapadithaya said that it is the duty of teachers to guide the students and make sure that they do not take any extreme steps.
Voicing his opinion that obtaining a degree should not be considered the objective of education, he said that education must help students identify their goals in life.
The ABVP honored students who scored well in their SSLC and PUC exams on this occasion.
