Talented singer of Uduma Raima Chandran ends her life

Kasargod, May 11, 2013 : In a shocking incident, a talented young singer named Raima Chandran (24) who hailed from Uduma in Kasargod, has reportedly ended her life by hanging herself in her parent’s house at Uduma on May 9, Thursday. She chose the extreme step when she was alone in the house.

Raima was the daughter of Chandran, Headmaster of ALP school in Uduma and stayed with her parents at the teachers’ quarters.

As per reports her mother was away at her parental home and her father at school when she chose to end her life. Her father grew suspicious when her daughter failed to receive his calls and informed a neighbour who found the door locked from inside and also no response from Raima who was inside. The door was broken open only to find Raima hanging from the windows grill in her room.

It is learnt, Raima was married to a forest officer at Kozhikode two years ago, but was staying with her parents after differences cropped up between the couple.

She was an extremely talented singer who had won prizes in various music contests. Neighbours said she was quite normal until recently. The exact cause of the suicide is yet to be ascertained.
