Suspected Hawala racket : Kasargod man arrested ; Rs 66 lakh cash seized

Kasargod, Sep 7, 2013 : Kasargod cops have arrested a person hailing from Talangere in a suspected Hawala case and have seized Rs 66 lakhs cash from him.

Hawala racket 1 The man has been identified as Mohammad Ali (66) of Talangere Kadavatt. The police who acted on a tip off arrested Mohammad from Ashwini Nagar as soon as he alighted from a private bus from Mumbai on September 6, Friday morning.

A car was waiting for Mohammad and police apprehended him even before he could board the car. Some people in the car fled on seeing the police. Police have launched a search for them.

The cash was found in the suitcase which Mohammad had. Interrogations revealed that he was given the blue bag of cash which the police found inside the suitcase, by a man from Mumbai who had asked him to hand it over to a person in Kasargod.

The arrest was made by a police team lead by Kasargod DySP Mohanchandran.
