Silver ornaments and 500gms of gold ornaments were stolen from a jewelry store in Krishnapura Road in Suratkal, although the police have not yet confirmed what exactly was stolen.

The thieves also stole mobile phones from two mobile stores on Market Road. Besides, they also escaped with some clothes from the clothes stores.

The people who were making preparations for Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations at night said that they did not see or hear anything suspicious. Police, therefore, believe that the thieves must have broken into the shops at around 3:00 a.m.

The theft was discovered at 7:00 a.m. when some early risers saw the shutters open. The SI of Suratkal Police Station, a dog squad, and fingerprint experts immediately rushed to the spot.
