Gowda who had lost his wife 14 years ago was living all alone  in his farm house  at Balugodu since then.   His daughter was married and his son Satish was  living at Kaikamba. The murder came to light when Ganapayya who used to attend to farm works in Gowda’s farm,   arrived for work on September 17, Tuesday morning after a two day leave. He immediately informed the police who arrived with finger print experts and dog squad.

Gowda’s forehead and knees  bore injury marks.  With the  things  in the drawer  of a nearby table found scattered all around, police strongly feel this is a murder for gain.

Police have found  a  scythe abandoned  in a  field near the house. The worker Ganapayya has said that this did not belong to his employer.

Senior police officials including Additional SP Shivakumar, Puttur DySP Sadananda Varnekar, Sullia Circle Inspector Sudarshan and Subrahmanya  sub-inspector Kushalappa Gowda visited the spot.
