Mangalore, Sep 11, 2013: Department of History of Government Women’s First Grade College, Balmatta in association with Karnataka Ithihasa Academy (R) Bangalore organized a programme ‘Preservation of Historical Culture’ at Shreemanthi Bai Memorial Government Museum, Bejai on September 11, Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ananth Raja Indra of Karnataka Ithihasa Academy said that the precious historical articles, must be preserved so that it will benefit  the future generations.

He also said that Government must take keen interest in renovating and maintaining such museums which go a long way in enriching the knowledge of students.

Shaila K N, Assistant Professor of the College said that the Shreemanthi Bai Memorial Government Museum has rich cultural heritage and the government as well as the visitors must make an effort to preserve it.

There was a paper presentation by students from Arts department. College Principal U Tara Rao, Assistant Professor Mohit Suvarna, Geetha Suvarna and others were present.

The Archeology Department has also displayed over 105  books on history and archeology for sale to the interested public.
