Strangers open fire in jewelry store

udupi, Aug 20, 2011 :A stranger tried to shoot the watchman of a jewelry store called Airodi on North School Cross Road on Aug 19 Friday at 7:30 p.m.

According to eyewitnesses, two strangers arrived at the jewelry store by bike, but only one of them tried to enter the jewelry store. When the watchman Vittal tried to stop him, the miscreant pulled out a gun and shot at him. Vittal ducked just in time and the bullet hit the wall of the store. The miscreant then shot two more rounds into the air before fleeing the scene.

The two wore masks and the one who shot was dressed in white shoes, jeans, and t-shirt. The two fled toward Manipal, say eyewitnesses. Their motive is not yet known.

The police found it very difficult to conduct an investigation because of lack of security measures such as CCTV in the store. The police feel that the duo only wanted to create a disturbance. The miscreants might have demanded money from the owner of the store and might have decided to threaten in this way because he had refused.

Nobody in the store was injured.
