Mangalore, Dec 12, 2012: The state government which is busy in trying to save itself, has failed in discharging its responsibilities towards the Endosulfan victims, alleged KJP President and former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa.
He was delivering the valedictory speech of the day-long hunger strike held in front of the DC office in Mangalore on December 12, Wednesday in support of the Endosulfan victims.
The former chief minister further said the state government had ignored the problems of the Endosulfan victims and added during his tenure as CM he had visited the houses of Endosulfan victims in Kokkada, Patrame and Nidle villages in Belthangady taluk and had given a compensation of Rs 50,000 each to 21 victims. But, the government failed to go ahead with the compensation payment procedure later on, he alleged.
“I will speak to the Chief Secretary of the state government and apprise him of the problems of Endosulfan victims,” Yeddyurappa said.
Several leaders including PV Mohan, AICC member, JR Lobo, Congress leader and former MCC commissioner, Muneer Katipalla, DYFI leader, Kripa Alva and Shakuntala Shetty, former Puttur MLA took part in the hunger strike.
