Puttur, Nov 29, 2013: Karnataka State government recognised the service and achievements of Suresh Nayak, a person with Down syndrome and selected for Karnataka State Award.


suresh Nayak 1The award will be conferred on Tuesday, December 3 on the eve of World Disabled Day.

About Suresh Nayak:

Suresh was born with ‘Down Syndrome’, aged 41 years. IQ is 22 with mental age 3.6 years and social age 6.6 years. Disability level 90% severe.

He dedicated his life to the welfare of differently abled people to bring them to the main stream of the society and equal rights, to provide them good education, special training, medical support, family and social support.

Since 20 years, Suresh has attended more than 1000 programmes with active participation.

Suresh is also conducting DownSyndrome Disability Awareness programme through value based Magic Shows titled ‘Magic Down Syndrome’ at Schools ,Colleges, public functions , Old age homes ,Orphanage homes at free of cost, can say he is the first  DownSyndrome magician of the world.

Achievements of Suresh Nayak: 1 World Record and 4 National Records:

Asia Book Records 2013’ for ‘World’s logest tongue (10 cm)

Limca Book of Records 2013’ for ‘Special Memory’ - 518 names of Mobile holders in 72 minutes

Limca Book of Records 2013’ for ‘Special 4 Divisions’ in his fingers

India Book of Records 2013’ for ‘Longest Tongue’ (10 cm)

India Book of Records 2013’ for ‘Special Memory’ - 204 names of Mobile holders in 30 minutes

Suresh is living in semi-urban area at Puttur and studied up to third standard at Mai De Deus Higher Primary School, Puttur and was trained for 13 years at Ashanilaya special school, Udupi. For the last 18 years he has been working as Telephone operator in a Stock broking firm.        

Suresh is a ‘Taal’ artist in ‘Bhajana Mandali’ of a Temple from15 years. Every year he dresses like a tiger and dances at ‘MrigaBhete’ festival.

Suresh proved that every disabled has special talents and negative factor can be converted positively and could gain recognition.

Suresh dedicated this award to all Down Syndrome differently abled citizens and his brother who has been his guiding force.
