Mangalore, Jan 24: St. Aloysius Pre University College of Mangalore, Kannada and Cultural Department of Mangalore, and the Mangalore Taluk Kannada Sahithya Parishad jointly organized a state-level literary and cultural convention called “Nammadu” in St. Aloysius College’s Loyola Hall on Jan 22, Saturday.
Inaugurating the event, MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik lauded the college for conducting state-level cultural and literary competitions for high school students. He also said that various organizations are promoting art and culture by conducting several programmes and organizing folk dance shows, poetry writing, Kannada talks, and so on. Stating that the education system of the past had gone wrong by giving importance to creativity and humanity, he expressed thankfulness that this trend is now changing.
Harikrishna Punaroor, the former president of the Karnataka State Kannada Sahithya Parishad, presided. The chief guest was Arehole Sadashiva, the renowned writer. Pradeep M., Sarvottam Anchan, and others were also present.
Several teams from all over the state participated in the Nammadu competitions.
