Mangalore, Mar 25, 2012: The department of journalism of St. Aloysius College organized a national film-making competition called Shooting Stars in Eric Mathaias Hall on March 24.
Sadananda Suvarna, the award-winning film maker and theatre artiste, was the chief guest of the event.
Films such as Tulunada Garjane, The Flying Bird, Tiffin Box, Veiled Truth, Aasthamayam, along with a documentary on the Car Festival by the students of St. Aloysius College and documentaries made by the students of Fr. Muller Homeopathic Medical College and Maharaja College of Kochi were screened.
In his address, Mr. Suvarna said that short films are more effective than long commercial films. He also expressed his appreciation of the students who prepared the documentaries and spoke of the importance of sound, lighting, camera, and other factors in film making.
Veronica Judith Pinto, the vice principal, was the guest of honor. Dr. Richard Rego delivered the presidential address.
