Mangalore, Dec 15, 2012: Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Kreedotsava-III will be held on January 18, 19 and 20,2013 in the fields adjacent to Shasthavu Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Temple, Badaga Yedapadav, Mijar, Mangalore. The much awaited event will be inaugurated by former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda, informed Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, entrepreneur and chief organizer of the event.


Addressing press persons on December 14, Friday, Shetty said “We have received very good response and we hope this time the participation will be much more than last year.” This year, many more games have been included and there  will be competitions in 40 games spanning 70 categories with prize money aggregating to over Rs. 15 lakhs along with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, he informed.

In addition to popular games like Kesarugadde Ota (Slush field Race), Kesarugadde Hagga Jaggata (Tug of War), Kesarugadde Nidhi Shoda, Naisargika Dehardadya (Natural Body Building), Cycle Race, Patreyalli Neeru Thumbuvudu (Filling Water in Vessel), many innovative new games like Brick Walk, Mud Wrestling, Pyramid and Ball Game are being added this year, he said.


The objective of organizing the Kreedotsava is to boost the rural community life. Hence we have different items to appeal to all types of people and attract maximum involvement. To encourage families to participate we have couples-only games like Jodi Kesarugadde Ota. For the children we have drawing competition, tyre race etc. There are also exclusive senior citizens categories for many of the games so that the elderly people too can take part, said  Vijaynath Shetty.


For people passionate about animal husbandry, we have events like Alankrata Dhana (Best Decorated Cow) and Ati Sundara Koli (Best Looking Cock). We have also introduced Kori Ota, an innovative type of non violent cock race, Shetty added.


Other types of rural talents that will be tested include Rangoli, Beedi Rolling, Mudi Kattuvudu (Mudi Rice Packing) and Madal Katte (Coconut Leaf Design). In line with the theme of village games, dress code is compulsory for all the players, with male players having to wear lungi and while the female players have to wear saree / churidar.


Best Village Trophy: Shetty said in order to foster village level unity and encourage the villagers to come together ‘Best Village’ trophy will be given to the village scoring the highest number of points based on the wins the villagers have earned in the different sporting events. The trophy comprises of cup and attractive prize money of Rs. 1,00,000 and Rs.50,000.


Star Attraction : A special attraction is ‘Manassuda Ullasogu Bodad Enchinala Malpuva’, which is a talent show, where any individual or group having a special talent in any field may perform before the judges panel.


The event will be staged on 19th January 6:00 p.m. onwards and the prize money is Rs. 25,000, Shetty said and added   Bollywood star  Sunil Shetty  will be  the chief guest.There will  also be entertainment programmes every evening including a live concert renowned playback singer Rajesh Krishnan on 20th January 7:00 p.m. onwards, Shetty informed.
