Sr. Mary Frances of Cloistered Carmel celebrates diamond jubilee

Mangalore, Dec 2: Sr. Mary Frances, who joined the Cloistered Carmel at Kankanady after completing her studies at St. Agnes College at the age of 19, celebrated the diamond jubilee of her religious life on Dec 1, Wednesday. She had taken her vows on Dec 3, 1950.

The only surviving child of Stella and Francis Pereira, she said that she was the only one of five boys and four girls, who chose the religious life. Seven of her siblings were born in Uganda and two were born in India. Her siblings are still in Uganda.


Fr. Claude D’Souza celebrated the Holy Eucharist while Fr. Henry Sequeira, Fr. Nelson Pinto, Fr. Valerian D’Souza, Fr. Stany Vas, and Fr. William Barrocos concelebrated.
