Six illegally constructed houses demolished

Mangalore, Aug 6, 2011: An evacuation team led by Tahsildar Ravichandra Nayak demolished six houses that were constructed illegally on government land in Kasaba Bengre on Aug 6 Saturday. The owners of the houses had also violated CRZ stipulations.

As soon as the bulldozers were turned on the houses, a large number of people from the neighborhood tried to prevent the operation; but the tahsildar informed them that the houses were constructed illegally and had to be demolished.

The six houses were in various stages of construction. The owners of two more houses were warned and told to vacate. The demolition drive commenced at 8:30 a.m. and continued till 12pm with police protection.

Puttamadaiah, the Panambur assistant commissioner of police, and revenue officers were also present.
