Moodbidri, Nov 6, 2013: Twelve of the antique  Jain idols stolen from the Siddantha Darshana Mandir of Moodbidri on July 6,  have been couriered to the Mangalore Police Commissioner’s Office from Raipur in Chattisgarh through a special parcel.

The seer has  also said that he has inspected the idols in the presence of Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar, investigation officer ACP Ravikumar, Moodbidri  inspector Ananthapdmanabha and  Sub inspector Ramesh Kumar.

Here it is worth mentioning that if three idols have been already traced, police had also recovered  gold ingots  secured after melting the five other idols. But it is not yet clear as to who had couriered the 12 other idols.

Of the several idols worth thousands of crores of rupees  stolen from the Siddantha Mandir on July 6, the idols of Chandraprabha Swami,  Parameshti, Munisuvratha Swami. Kachapanna Arahantha parameshti, Neelaratna Munisuvratha, Neelatrana Arahantha. The Jain Mutt seer has  said that the  idols have been recovered due to the “blessings of the Lord, the prayers of the seers and the efforts of the police.”

It may be recalled here that there has been a growing demand for a CBI probe into this high profile case. Police had  arrested  the prime accused Santosh Das alias Ghanashyam and  jeweler Subhash Sanchethi in connection with the theft. Santosh Das’s  wife and father-in-law too had been arrested but were released on bail.
