Shree Narayana Guru had created social awakening against superstitious practices : CM Siddaramaiah

Mangalore, Nov 12, 2013 : Brahmashree Narayana Guru  who  was instrumental in establishing over 160 temples  across  Kerala  at a time when  the  so called backward classes were denied entry into temples,  had thus    given a very meaningful reply to the priestly class which tried to subjugate the weaker sections, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

He was speaking after inaugurating the  Guru Mandir of Brahmashree Narayana Guru  set up by the Brahmashree Narayana Guru  Samaja Seva Sangha at Bajpe Karambar on November 11,   Monday.

The Chief Minister further said  Shree Narayana Guru also created a social awakening against superstitious beliefs and practices and  advocated that education can help in building a society free from exploitation.

Senior Congress leader B Janardhan Poojari inaugurated the Samudaya Bhavan  on the occasion. In his address, he was all praise for the various schemes envisaged by the congress government for the economically weaker sections of the society.  He also made a request to  the Chief Minister to  extend the benefits even  to the poorer sections of the Brahmin community.

Sri Satyananda Theertha Swamiji of Kerala Shivagiri Kshetra  blessed the occasion. Urban Development Minister Vinaykumar Sorake inaugurated the dining hall. State Minister for Forest B Ramanatha Rai, Youth Services Minister Abhayachandra Jain, MLAs Vasanth Bangera,  BA Moidin Bava, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel,  Jaya C Suvarna,  President of Akhila Bharatha Billawa Maha Mandala,  Vasanth Kumar Bangera, President of the Sangha and others were present.
