Several shops damaged as tree branch falls on Karangalpady market

Mangaluru, May 19, 2016: Three shops were damaged after a branch of a huge Banyan tree came down crashing in the Karangalpady market on Thursday. The incident took place at 2.30pm when a branch of the old tree near the Karangalpady Bus Stand fell on the shops inside the Karangalpady market including a car and bike.

No one was hurt. The fire personnel rushed to the spot on time and have started clearing off the branch. Local corporator D K Ashok and City Corporation Commissioner Gopal Krishna visited the spot to take stock of the situation. An electric transformer also damaged in the incident.
