Mangalore, Sep 1, 2012 : The Youth Congress, the DYFI, the Yuva Janatha Dal, the AIYF, the NSUI, the SFI, the VJD(S), and the AISFY, on September 1, Saturday, jointly organized a protest rally followed by a demonstration against the attack on young people celebrating a birthday in Morning Mist Home Stay, Padil on July 28.

The rally began at Ambedkar Circle in Jyothi and ended in front of the DC’s office. A large number of students took part in the protest.

Mithun Rai of Youth Congress condemned the home stay attack and shouted slogans against District-in-charge Minister C. T. Ravi, pro-Hindu organizations, and BJP leaders. Stating that nobody has the right to infringe on the freedom of youth in DK, he said that they will continue fighting till Subhash Padil is booked under the Goonda Act.


Stating that several like-minded groups have joined hands to work against such anti-social elements, he said that young people are languishing in jail because of outfits such as Bajrang Dal.


Flaying saffron outfits, Muneer Katipalla of DYFI demanded to know why the BJP is powerless to stop the drug mafia and sex tourism that the Hindu outfits complain of. He also accused members of pro-Hindu outfits of involving in hafta collection.


Among those on the dais were Nithin Kuthar, Ashith Pereira, Praveenchandra Alva, Preetham, Dayanand Shetty, Sunil Kumar Bajal, Ivan D’Souza, Yogish Kumar Shetty, and others.
