Setback for KJP as Mariamma Thomas quits

Mangalore, April 26, 2013 : The Karnataka Janatha Party of the former CM BS Yeddyurappa which is struggling  to retain its existence in the district, has suffered a major setback with one of its popular faces Mariamma Thomas, a former corporator, deciding to call it quits.

Mariamma has said she was quitting the KJP fed up with its infighting and lack of organization. It may be mentioned here that Mariamma had sprang a surprise  by participating in an election campaign  meeting of Congress candidate of Mangalore South JR Lobo.


Speaking to reporters here Mariamma however clarified that she would not be joining any political party and added she was yet to decide if she would join the Congress which has invited her.


On her earlier decision to join the KJP, Mariamma Thomas said she joined the KJP pleased with the developmental initiatives of former CM BS Yeddyurappa. On this occasion, Mariamma Thomas came down heavily on the BJP candidate Yogish Bhat for failing to achieve anything significant in the city during his earlier terms.
