Schools must educate students about voters’ list – MLA U. T. Khader

Mangalore, Oct 8, 2012 : Addressing reporters at a press conference held in the office of the district Congress on Oct 8, Monday, MLA U. T. Khader said that all schools must educate students about the voters’ list and encourage them to register their names for it.

 

 

Speaking about the mistakes in the draft voters’ list, he said that there are many errors related to booth number, names, identity cards, ration cards, addresses, and others.

Regarding the stay on stone crushers, he said it will not be possible to start road repair work till December because of the non availability of stone crushers. Stating that roads must be repaired at the earliest possible, he explained that funds allotted for road repair will have to be sent back if they are not utilized within the given time.

Regarding the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, he said that the newly constructed Suvarna Vidhana South will be inaugurated on Oct 11, Thursday by President Pranab Mukherjee.

He also complained that political leaders are least bothered about burning issues such as hike in LPG prices, Cauvery issue, shut down of stone quarries, and others.

Regarding State Minorities Development Corporation, he said that, although cheques for beneficiaries of several schemes are ready, they are yet to be distributed. Over 200 cheques are pending in the minorities’ development office, he said, adding that beneficiaries are being made to wait for it.

Congress leaders Moideen Bawa, Sadashiva Ullal, Mohan Mendon, T. K. Sudhir, Krishna Gatty, Bhagyashree, and Mithun Rai were also present.
