Mangalore, July 22, 2012: Sandeep Malani’s Kannada film on AIDS awareness Jo Jo Laali has been selected for screening at the XIX International Aids Conference 2012 at the world renowned Carnegie Library McKinley Theater on July 25, 2012 in Washington DC, USA.

Jo Lali JoJo Jo Laali is the only Indian film to be screened at the festival. Over 25,000 delegates from all over the world are expected to attend this event.

Jo Jo Laali is a beautiful Kannada film of a single mother, a classical dancer, who discovers that her 4-year-old son born of a love affair has AIDS transmitted by her. The agony of her heart wrenching loss is portrayed through music and dance and the film ends on a note of positivity with a strong message for society.

Starring Kalpana Pandit, Akash Hora, and Shrey Tejani, the film features thandav music by Ricky Kej. The romantic thandav is a tribute to Sridevi’s thandav from Chandni. Sandeep Malani is the script writer and director of this film.

Jo Jo Laali received rave reviews from across the board and is a film on AIDS awareness, which bagged Kalpana Pandit, the coveted Best Actress Award at the South Indian Mega Film Festival in 2011. The film also recently won Best Story by Sandeep Malani and Best Title Track Awards at the Imphal International Film Festival. It also won the Best Director Award for Sandeep at the Children’s Film Festival.  It is next scheduled to be screened at the prestigious Akka World Kannada Convention 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia on September 1, 2012.
