Mangalore, June 23, 2012: Delivering the presidential address at the tri-decennial celebration of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala Rural Development Projects (SKDRDP) at Amrithavarshini Sabha Bhavana in Dharmasthala on Friday, Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, the dharmadhikari of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala said that the SKDRDP must be implemented all over India, along the model of RUDSETI.
Stating that the success of the SKDRDP has motivated Dharmasthala Trust to expand it all over Karnataka, he said that, in the near future, the beneficiary programs will be extended in different districts.
Jairam Ramesh, union minister for rural development, distributed dividends among beneficiaries and spoke about the need to maintain social harmony with social development. He expressed his opinion that economic prosperity and social bonding must go hand in hand.
Speaking of the importance of curbing Naxal menace in Karnataka, he said that the government is obliged to provide alternative arrangements for tribes who are caught in between the Naxals and the police.
Jagadeesh Shettar, state minister for Panchayat Raj and rural development, released a book titled “Inclusive Rural Development in Reality – Triumph of SKDRDP,” written by Dr. G. V. Joshi, economics professor.
MPs Jayaprakash Hegde and Nalin Kumar Kateel and MLA Abhayachandra Jain were also present.
