Mangalore, Nov 5, 2012: The Rotary Club of Mangalore will organize Gaata Rahe Mera Dil on Nov 26 in Town Hall at 6:00 p.m.

The concert will feature multi-lingual, talented singers such as Mohammed Hanif, Ranjan Das, Shrikanth Kamath, and Anitha D’Souza. The funds raised will be spent in enhancing cancer awareness.

Entrance is for club invitees only.

“Cancer Detection” is one of the projects launched by Rotary District 3180. Accordingly, the Rotary Club of Mangalore has taken up the task of increasing public awareness on cancer and have the support of other Rotary Club, corporate bodies, media forums, and medical institutions.

Under the leadership of laparoscopic surgeon Dr. Shivashankar Bhat Angri, the president of Rotary Club of Mangalore, the club has identified certain modalities. Dr. Bhat will be assisted by a team of eight renowned doctors and has plans to involve doctors from other clubs and institutions to raise public awareness on cancer.

Anitha D’Souza, the well-known singer who can sing in 8 languages, will lead the musical troupe, which will present Gaata Rahe Mera Dil. Anitha has earned several titles such as Gadinada Gana Kogile and Tulunada Gaana Kogile. Other members of the troupe are Shrikanth Kamath, who sings the popular numbers of Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi, Kumar Sanu; Mohammed Hanif, also known as Junior Rafi; and Ranjan Das, who is also known as Kishore Kumar.

This troupe has travelled all over India and abroad and presented popular shows such as Golden Oldies in Dubai, Musical Extravaganza in Dubai, Melody makers in Kuwait, Musical Show in Bahrain, and others. For the past 3 years, the troupe has been organizing musical shows in Town Hall, and it’s most recent show was Yaadon Ki Baarath, which was presented on Aug 26.

Local media forums such as Daijiworld, Deccan Herald, The Hindu, The Times, and others have extended their support for this show.

Those who wish to donate to the cause of spreading cancer awareness will be qualified for exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. Those willing to contribute can do so in favor of Rotary Club of Mangalore Sunrise Charitable Trust and address it to Rotarian Dr. Shivashankar Bhat Angri, Sparsha Medical Centre, Bendorewell, Mangalore – 575002.
