Mangalore, Sep 10, 2013: Believe it or not, the DK District in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai strongly feels that a party corporator who had reportedly colluded with a JD(S) corporator in a bid to avert  reservation of Mayoral post for a woman candidate, should get a good  beating with ‘chappals.’

Rai reportedly reacted so when party men drew his attention towards the issue at a meeting convened at Circuit House to decide on the party’s mayor candidate. When some Congress men said that a corporator of the party had colluded with JD(S) corporator and had backed him financially for moving the court challenging the reservation, Rai said he was aware of the same and also about the corporator responsible for it Without naming him, Rai said he needs to get a good thrashing with slippers.

However, none present in the meeting named the corporator said to be  a close  friend of former mayor K Ashraf. Interestingly, Ashraf too was one among the several who demanded stern action.

It is now left to be seen if the Congress would dare to act against the Corporator or  would think it best to forget the matter.
